What is Discipleship?

“Come, follow Me! And I will make you fishers of people.” These are the words Jesus Christ spoke to His followers two thousand years ago. They became His disciples and later were called Christians—little “Christs.” Hence a Christian is someone who strives to be just like Christ, in speech, thought, conduct and lifestyle.

Discipleship is the spiritually rewarding path a person takes to become like Jesus, similar to the physical training an individual undergoes to become an athlete. Just like the body, the human soul and mind need regular exercise to stay in shape.

Whether you are a new or seasoned believer, you need to keep your mind, soul and body connected to God and your fellow Christians. But how do you go about? Discipleship helps you to broaden and deepen your faith and to develop your skills as a fisher of people.
